Hi all. This has been a very busy week for us with wedding preparations under way for my daughter! Only a month to go now! Of course, we had to have the usual hen weekend frolics as part of the whole experience. What a wonderful weekend we all had! We took part in a variety of activities including a ’fascinating’ vintage fascinator class, courtesy of ‘Silver Sixpence in her Shoe’ www.silver-sixpence-in-her-shoe.co.uk , and a vintage afternoon tea party with all the trimmings, courtesy of ‘And The Dish Ran Away with the Spoon’ www.dishandspoonfood.co.uk. Both companies came to our apartment and provided us with a fabulous 3 hours of fun and food whilst relaxing in comfortable surroundings and not having to step a foot outside – marvellous! Of course, the bubbly had to come out as well – but clearly that couldn’t be missed from the proceedings! I suspect it is not the type of thing that many people think of having for their hen do – a craft making session – however, our lovely bridesmaid who took care of all the arrrangements had done herself proud! It was just what the bride would love and it actually turned out to be great fun for all those doubters as well! We had the choice of some lovely vintage bits and bobs to put on our headpieces, very lovingly collected by the owner of Silver Sixpence in her Shoe, Nicola. Then we became busy little bees and produced our own imaginative (???) creations using feathers, buttons, buckles, bows and anything else we could lay our hands on! Check out the photos of the fabulous headwear that we made – clearly we are all going to wear them on the day. . . . . .aren’t we . . . . . . ? A slightly more professional look was achieved by our host, the extremely patient Nicola, who sells her bespoke creations for all members of the bridal party. Do have a look on her etsy page at some of her fabulous creations! www.etsy.com/shop/nicolawellard And wow – what a simply sumptious afternoon tea – sandwiches, scones and cakes to die for – and plenty of them! Pity a number of our party were attending slimming world later in the week – but we all tucked in despite that! Check out the menu available on http://www.dishandspoonfood.co.uk/menu/ - we can highly recommend the lemon drizzle – yummy! This prompts me to ask what all our brides who are lovers of the fifties era choose to do for their own hen celebrations - does the fifties theme continue through the hen do as well? Do email me and let me know about any fifties style activities that have played a part in your hen do! If you can send us any pictures as well we can let all our readers know what activities can be found out there within the fifties theme.
